Australia Day 2008 At 8.00am on Saturday the 26th of January, the town of Perenjori got together to celebrate Australia Day. The Day commenced at Anzac Park with the singing of our National Anthem and the raising of the Australian flag. We had two local residents, Spot Desmond and Stephanie Solomon read out what Australia Day means to them. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL RECIPIENTS OF THE AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS. Mrs Karen Chappel - Citizen of the Year. Karen has spent the last 12 months being very supportive of many people in our wider community and is to be commended for her sincere and generous committment. PJ Riders' Club Garden Party - Event of the Year The day included a key note speaker, delicious food, cool refreashments, a fashion parade and a variety of stalls to entertain women in a beautiful and colourful garden setting. The organisers are to be commended for conducting such a happy and relaxing garden party especially as they could forget momentarily that they were in an area profoundly affected by drought. Community Christmas Party - Event of the Year, A Certificate of Achievement The event was not only for businesses to thank their customers for their support over the last twelve months considering the financial impact the dry season has on the whole community. It was fantastic to see so many people attend and it highlighted the fact that our community spirit had not declined in times of hardship. The atmosphere that was given from this event was surreal.
