![]() COUNCIL SNIPPETS Fuel Services A new card machine has been installed at PJ Farm & General and Caltex are working on getting the facility operating in the next couple of weeks. The new machine will accept: Caltex Fuel Cards Credit Cards (with PIN only) Eftpos Cards Until the facility is up and running, Reliance cards will still be able to be used and Council will continue to provide fuel at the following times: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 12 noon to 1.00pm Saturdays 8.00am – 11.00am FOR CASH PURCHASES ONLY 2007 Dry Seasons Assistance Scheme Council sought applications from community groups interested in applying for grants available for the above scheme. Grants are specifically to provide community events in consultation and with the support of the Shire. Up to $10,000 is available for Perenjori. Two applications were received from: Perenjori Agricultural Society 2008 Annual District ShowTo offer children’s entertainment at the show free to attendees Perenjori P&C Association Entertainment EveningHosting of an evening on the PJ Oval with a band and entertainment for children. Council is supportive of both applications and will be submitting an application for the funds to hold both events. Light Industrial Land Council is in the process of purchasing light industrial land that has become available. The land is located near the new depot workshop and consists of 8 separate lots. The new road through the land (England Crescent) is currently being constructed. The lots have all the necessary services (power & water). Council is seeking to facilitate the development of new businesses in Perenjori and the availability of these lots is critical to this goal. Council Meetings Any interested community members can observe Council meetings. Public question time is also available for any queries to Council. Queries need to be submitted to the CEO prior to the meeting so that any necessary investigation can be completed. Budget Requests Council encourages all community & sporting groups to please submit a request for any donations or contributions they would like considered in the 2008/09 budget which is in it’s draft stages. Any requests made during the financial year that have not been applied for previously cannot be guaranteed as Council has tight budget constraints. Perenjori Townscape Interested Community members are welcome to the next Townscape Committee on Wednesday 28th May in the Council Lounge at 6.00pm. Council is keen to gain community input into how to improve our town’s appearance looking to the future to attracting families to our town, tourists and visitors alike. It is also an advantage for us, the people who live here to enjoy living in an attractive, vibrant town. Council Meeting – 17th April 2008 Highlights Economic Development Projects · CBH Bowgada Bin Council may be able to acquire the CBH bin at Bowgada for Community benefit. If anyone has any suggestions for its potential use etc please submit in writing. · Flat Packed Housing A MOU with the University of WA has been completed. Signs have been erected at 60 Downer Street where the houses will be built. Copies of full scale plans have been received at the shire and are available for inspection if anyone is interested. Other · Donation – Midwest Group of Affiliated Agricultural Societies Council has resolved as per previous years to contribute $250 to the Midwest District Display at the Perth Royal Show which promotes our region. · Budget Provision Council has resolved to make a budget provision of $4000 in the 2008/09 draft budget for the PJ & Districts Agricultural Society for this years Perenjori show. This contribution assists the Ag Society with its entertainment expense for the evening. · Latham Centenary Council received a request for assistance from the Latham Centenary Committee who are organising the celebrations for the Latham Centenary event on the weekend of the 11th – 13th September 2009. Although some time away the Committee is commencing the preparation which will include the update of the Latham history. Council has allocated in its draft budget $10,000. · Town Planning Scheme No 1 Review Council has commenced it’s review of its TPS No 1 with a number of amendments resulting from its perceived requirements for the future of the town. Community consultation is required in the process at appropriate stages. · Perenjori Masonic Lodge Council has received confirmation from the Morawa Masonic Lodge that the Committee has agreed to vest the Perenjori Masonic Lodge land and buildings with the Shire of Perenjori which Council was previously leasing. The only stipulation to the transfer is that it is utilised for Community use and transfer costs are met by Council. · Subdivision Update – John Street Council was informed that installation of water services to the 900 John Street subdivision have been completed. Geraldton Electrical: Trenching & cable installation – 3 weeks 28/04-16/05/08 Fit off 2 weeks 19-30/05/08 Testing & handover 2 weeks 2-13/06/08 Council Minutes Council minutes are available for public inspection 10 days after the meeting date in the Library and on Council’s website.
